Acknowledgement
Recognizing the land we play on and the peoples whose stewardship made it possible.
Next Shift Hockey Canada acknowledges that our home base in Limoges, Ontario, is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation. We are grateful for the opportunity to live, work, and play on these lands and recognize the enduring presence, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.
As an organization dedicated to creating opportunities through sport, we believe that learning about the history, traditions, and communities of the land we are on is an important step toward understanding, respect, and reconciliation.
Whether you are joining us in Ottawa, Eastern Ontario, or elsewhere across Canada and around the world, we encourage you to take time to learn whose traditional territory you are on, connect with local Indigenous communities, and deepen your understanding of their history, culture, and ongoing contributions.
Together, through respect, education, and inclusion, we can help build stronger communities both on and off the ice.
Our Commitment
We actively partner with Indigenous communities across Canada to bring hockey access to underserved regions, respecting cultural values and community leadership at every step.
Our programs are designed to remove every barrier to participation, including for Indigenous youth who face compounding challenges in accessing sport.
We are committed to ongoing education and listening within our volunteer team and organization to ensure our work reflects genuine respect and partnership.
